Colts April Fools
Harpenden Colts OB Reserves 0, Marshallswick 2
Sunday 1 April 2012 Herts Advertiser Sunday League Division 4
Colts again underperformed as a team and allowed Marshallswick to threaten regularly down the flanks. When Colts did get their game together their final delivery left much to be desired and a creative counter attack saw Marshallswick score a well taken goal against the run of play. MoM Jack Woods made some valuable saves to deny the opposition, but eventually it was all in vain as the elusive equalizer remained so until a 2nd goal seconds from time secured victory for Marshallswick.
Colts see off Village People
Radlett Village 1, Harpenden Colts OB Reserves 2
Sunday 18 March 2012 Herts Advertiser Sunday League Division 4
A transformed colts team sought to impose themselves upon Radlett and the first goal from a Jordan Walker 25 yard volley stunned the home team after only 15 minutes. Pulling themselves back into the game Radlett forced colts to defend in numbers. However, a creative counter attack saw Ross Payton emphatically finish from a Robbie Barker cross ball in the 18 yard box.
Typically colts relaxed and paid the price as Radlett pulled a goal back. The 2nd half saw colts dig in and resiliently clear 2 goal line moments before reimposing their dominance over a spirited Radlett team. MoM Steven Stratford embodied the colts determination to defend intelligently and build from the back. Following the dismissal of a Radlett centre back, colts pushed forward and although available space was exploited colts were denied further goals by an in form Radlett keeper.
Harpenden Colts OB Reserves 5, Bar 62 5
Sunday 11 March 2012 Herts Advertiser Sunday League Division 4
A poor game reflecting the respective positions of both sides in the division. Colts started brightly and were 1-0 up thanks to Jordan Walkers 5th minute shot. However, Bar 62 clawed their way back into the game to lead 3-1 at half time.
A spited start to the 2nd half saw Colts pull back the deficit through Ross Payton and Rob Jackson, though 2 lapses in concentration allowed Bar 62 to restore a 2 goal lead.
Sheer perseverance kept all on their toes as Colts via an own goal and a second Jordan Walker goal equalized. Despite some poor football Colts came close to winning as George Baker’s shot hit the bar one minute from time and Bar 62 saw MoM Joel Gill, deputizing for Jack Woods, save one last effort that could have seen Bar 62 take the honours.

Brookmans Park A 2, Harpenden Colts OB Reserves 0
Sunday 22 January 2012 Herts Advertiser Sunday League Division 4
A poor first half livened up in the second as both teams changed their style of play. Colts had been kept in the game by MoM Joel Gill with 3 excellent saves from which Colts started to impose themselves with an attacking passing game. Chances by Walker and Paul were defended well, but with the loss of Dixon Colts lost some of their rhythm and fell behind after Brookmans Park capitalized on a chance following yet another fine save from the Colts keeper. A second Brookmans park goal 5 minutes from the end consigned Colts to another frustrating defeat.
Colts give late Xmas Presents
Sandridge & Harvesters 5, Harpenden Colts OB Reserves 2
Sunday 8 January 2012 Herts Advertiser Sunday League Division 4
MoM Andy Luckhurst orchestrated some fine football from a Colts team destined to come 2nd in a high tempo game. Colts carelessly gave away a penalty in the 2nd minute and so the scene was set whereby Colts chased the game despite engineering long periods of dominance and goal scoring chances. Well taken goals by Marc Oakley and Jason Ling pulled back the deficit but having got back in the game Colts sloppy play gave the game away to Sandridge who took their chances and capitalized on Colts errors of judgement and positional play.

Colts lose concentration
Colney Heath Rangers Reserves 2, Harpenden Colts OB Reserves 0
Sunday 11 December 2011 Herts Advertiser Reserve Cup Qtr Final
MoM Sam Lewis ensured Colts pressured an organised Colney Heath side throughout the game. Colts came close to establishing a lead in the first half through Lewis, Luckhurst and Barker – but defensive resistance proved otherwise.
A lapse in concentration nearly let in Colney early in the 2nd half, but despite Colney pressure Colts held firm until a corner 20 minutes from time was poorly defended and Colney took a 1-0 lead. Despite Colts efforts, Colney repelled their attacks, and with seconds to go they evaded the high line to score a 2nd goal. 2-0 to Colney.

Much impoved Colts undone by indecision
Harpenden Colts OB Reserves 0, St. Albans Royals 3
Sunday 9 October 2011 Herts Advertiser Sunday League Division 4
Harpenden Colts Old Boys Reserves produced a much improved performance against St. Albans Royals but they paid the penalty for hesitating in and around the box to crash 3-0 against a useful Royals side. Joshua Dixon was outstanding for Colts well supported by Richard Oxley and Stephen Miller.
A revamped defensive back 4 provided the basis to hold St Albans Royals and feed an energetic midfield pairing of Oxley and Sheridan. However 2 lapses of concentration and communication mix ups put Colts on the back foot from which they struggled to pull back a 2 goal deficit as the team lacked invention in their opponents half.
A breakaway 3rd goal ten minutes from the end sealed the Royals victory, but enough positives from the Old Boys to look forward and reverse this run of poor fortune.
Gnome Award: Duncan O’Hare: failing to convert a near open goal, meekly passing the ball to the opposition keeper.
